Some food some rain

Haha. I know it's a weird title for an entry.

Last Sunday's lunch:
A delicious bowl of fried noodles with my MUST HAVE DAILY tomatoes!
My Wellington boots for the raining days, making them sunny for me! keke, if you get what I mean.

Anyway, overall my life has been very busy. With LOTS LOTS LOTS AND LOTS of things on my mind and LOTS AND LOTS of things to do.
Usually I tend to put the details into my secret garden. Keke.

Chinese new year's coming guys! Have fun shopping, eatting, losing weight and collecting red packets! ^^

My celebrity look alikes

This My Heritage website has been around for quite a while already. I haven't been playing around with it much when everyone else has so I guess I'll play with it now when everyone else is getting a bit quieter.

Gossip Girls

Addictive. One of the best US soaps ever! You'll get to see the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elites. So dramatic but yet so inspiring! The fashion, the style, the attitude, the look. Definitely my dreamed sense of style. But can't afford them now. Maybe when I start working.

I've finished Season 1 this week. Starting season 2 this weekend! lol

Dinner party

Some photos taken during another dinner party not so long ago.

Cute Sophia and baby Nadia's rooms
Stacking the chairs
Two adorable sisters

Children's night light

Sohpia could not play without me that night. She asked me to play with her the whole night!!! It was quite tiring. haha. But she's so cute.

Back in college, back in uni

Yes. The start of second term.

Some inspiration for the second term:
Life is not measured by how many breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

I do want to have a fantastic second term! Although, highly unlikely with this amount of work load.

Poetic mood

After updating my 'Secret Garden' I suddenly felt rather poetic. So I think I would like to write down my poem! HAHA. (让大家见笑啦)

Time goes on
Time goes by
Things grow
Things die
Follow the road that
Lets you see
The positive path
To your destiny
Things are bad
Things are good
Do what you must
But do what you should.

Ridiculous

Absolutely ridiculous. Am I getting so comfortable at home? I do love to stay at home forever, but the reality is, I have to move back to college this Sunday. OMG! I JUST REALISED THAT. At the back of my head it always told me that I still have 1 more week for Uni. BUT NO! I was wrong.

I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT! Why can't I have one more week at home???? I'm so comfortable at home. UGH....

Fine then. Let the 2nd year torture me.

:(

Anyway, some inspiration for me today:
What I am doing today is important because I am exchanging a day of my life for it.

English language proficiency

Which one have you took?
IELTS or TOEFL

Well, I've not taken any of those but I have tried them. Personally I think these tests are a whole bunch of rubbish. It's too commercialised. In Beijing people pay so much money to go to schools like 新东方 thinking that they could crash learn English.

During one summer vacation when I was in Singapore (12 years old), I went back to Wuhan for holiday. I remember attending one of my Dad's lectures in 武汉华中理工大学 (now 华中科技大学 Wuhan University of Science and Techonology). After the lecture when all the students left a professor came up to me and spoke to me in English. After our conversation, he challenged me to take TOEFL. So I did. Right on the spot.

To his amusement I got 620+ marks. Haha. I was so proud of myself. But looking back, I don't feel so proud any more. These tests are just too easy and definitely doesn't show your true English ability.

As proven from the people I know who's taken IELTS:

The average grade is 6 (the minimum requirement for Uni applications in the UK). I don't think I should name anyone here, as it's quite embarrassing for them. But let me give you 2 examples.
A boy who's came here since he was 16 or 17 (took his A levels here) took IELTS 2 times. 1 try he got 5 or 5.5 then 2nd try he FINALLY got 6 or was it 6.5? But his English was no where near competent. I don't think his English has ever improved since.

Another example, also a boy coming to the UK at 17. Took foundation in a crappy Oxford school and prepared for IELTS for only 3 months. And got 6.5.

This makes me think.

What kind of rubbish test is that if someone who has not learnt English before but could just spend 3 months to get 6.5 . Does that mean people who have done A levels here can definitely going to get 8 or even 9 (Full marks)?

The Government should really consider making these tests hard. They seem to be degrading English. *shakes head*

The Butterfly Lovers (梁祝)

A chinese legend about a tragic romance between two lovers - 梁山伯 and 祝英台. This legend is sometimes regarded as the Chinese equivalent to Romeo and Juliet. But I personally prefer 梁祝.

梁山伯与祝英台 (中国版)
主演:何润东,董洁

片头曲

片尾曲

Highly recommended! Such a touching love story. So much better than the HK version I watched a few years ago. Try searching for it on YouTube.
全都是俊男美女,好喜欢董洁(祝英台)!她真的好漂亮-古典美。
剧情特别和我以前看的不一样,很喜欢。

To my HONEY: 我没忘记和你分享哦。

New Years with family

When I got back from London, Durham was snowing!

Went to the Metro Centre for my BIG sales shopping, bought a couple of nice things, shoes, coat, jeans. ^^ Satisfied!

Dinner

London Food Edition

Most of the yummy ain't in China Town. But Four Seasons was nice and I met these lovely friends there.
Wei Wen (Finally! After 6 years!), Tian Tian ( my beautiful roomie from camp), Xuan (my pretty 学姐)

And this is what Wei Wen insisted me writing:
well, it has been 6 years or so since I last saw a 2/1 2002 New Towner. I was overjoyed to see him. Being one of the tallest in class at that time, shanel, me, weiwen and wei dong used to sit at the back of the class. But he was shocked to see a 'shrinked' jennifer! So yah, he is taller than me now, but I told him it's VERY NATURAL!
We chatted for so long and after eating in Four Seasons.Gradually, moved to a icecream/yoghurt bar and chatted for a few hours. It was a great night. When I got back home, my stomach was so painful after laughing so much!

Korean BBQ, I'm going there again! For sure!

The Dim Sum restaurant just opposite where Rich lives. I'm jealous!

The amazing Northern Restaurant where we ate the BBQ mutton, the little chinese tea shop where we had the delicious dumplings and Wan Ton soup, the countless visits to that Dim Sum restaurant for our brunch, Korean BBQ.

I would not forget a single place we went to. They were all so GOOD! I want to go there again!!!!!

Our little piece of heaven

This is where Rich is living - I love the place, by the sea/river (haha)!
